Angelina Jolie’s father, Jon Voight, has managed to stir up the internet again — and not in a subtle way. The 86-year-old actor publicly urged President Donald Trump to “terminate” Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral win, calling the newly elected leader a threat to New York City.

He delivered the message in a two-minute social media video on X, standing in front of an American flag and warning that Mamdani would “turn it into a socialist crap city.” Yes, that line was in the intro of the speech, and yes, the internet grabbed the popcorn.
Jon Voight Warns Trump That Zohran Mamdani’s Win Marks a “Dangerous Time” for NYC

Voight primarily lives in Beverly Hills and now carries the curious title of Trump-appointed special ambassador to Hollywood. The man leaned hard into fear-mongering language throughout the speech. He painted Mamdani as everything from a “communist” to someone ushering in a “virtual refugee shelter for the radical Muslim ideology.” None of this, of course, lines up with reality. Mamdani, who is 34, identifies as a democratic socialist, not whatever cartoon villain Voight tried to sketch out.
The actor insisted New York is living through,
The most dangerous time for our citizens.
And went on to declare that Mamdani’s win was basically the beginning of the end. “This mayor will destroy this city,” he said, stacking claim on claim with absolute confidence. He even suggested that Mamdani, who is legally elected and whose position the president has no power to revoke, has “no right dictating the rules of socialism for a city built on our highest principles.”
It was dramatic, emotional, and wildly inaccurate. His speech was a combination that tends to catch fire online instantly. And this time was no exception.
Jon Voight Mocked Online for What Critics Call a Self-Centered Tirade Against Zohran Mamdani

The internet needed only seconds to respond to him. And once it did, it was ruthless. One user on X posted a photo of Voight with the caption,
Washed Up Actor Trump Supporter Psychotic Idiot.

Another wrote,
There’s no radical in my religion plz be respectful Mr Jon Voight.
This person gently but firmly tapped him on the shoulder with reality.
There’s no radical in my religion plz be respectful Mr jon voight
Then came the family-related jab. Because the internet never misses a chance. Someone quipped,
I can see why your daughter doesn’t associate with you.
She dragged Angelina Jolie into the conversation even though she had absolutely nothing to do with any of this.
I can see why your daughter doesn't associate with you
Another user chose pure blunt force. He wrote,
Jon Voight, you’re just a stupid old white supremacist cunt. Irrelevant in a good world.

The replies weren’t merely critical. They were volcanic.
Online anger aside, the message was clear. Voight’s attempt to rally Trump into undoing a democratic election didn’t land the way he probably hoped. And it reminded us that political rants rarely go the way the ranter expects.
