Women In Training, Inc (WIT) held its fourth annual Mother-Daughter Brunch at the Renaissance hotel in downtown Montgomery Saturday. The keynote speaker was Zahara Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Her mother, actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie, attended the event as well.
“We are truly honored that Zahara Jolie-Pitt will speak at the Fourth Annual WIT
Mother-Daughter Brunch about her passion to end period poverty, which is the mission of
Women in Training,” said Adeyela Bennett, president and CEO of Women in Training.
“We are also excited that her mother, the internationally renowned movie star Angelina Jolie, will join us
to support her daughter and to support our goal of ensuring that every girl and young woman
has the products she needs to live her life to the fullest extent,” said Bennett.
Action 8’s Ellis Eskew was Mistress of Ceremonies for the event. The brunch was attended by hundreds of mothers and daughters and served as a fundraiser for the non-profit organization, which was founded by sisters Brooke and Breanna Bennett.
Also, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented at the brunch. Sandra Washington of Montgomery was this year’s recipient for her 4,000 hours of community service.
“Well, I’d just like to thank everyone in the organization for selecting me and nominating me for this prestigious award. I don’t work for fame or fortune. I do what I do and I’ve done it all my life, and so I am just so gracious and appreciative,” said Washington.
