Before winning audiences with their undeniable chemistry in Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, Adam Brody and Kristen Bell co-starred in Wes Craven’s 2011 slasher film Scream 4.
Brody played Ross Hoss, a deputy of the Woodsboro Police Department, while Bell appeared as Chloe, a character in the in-universe Stab franchise who is eventually revealed to be the Ghostface killer.
Although Ross and Chloe never appear in the same scenes, their characters are narratively connected as Ross is later killed by Ghostface, whose persona inspired Chloe’s character in Stab.
Scream 4, the fourth installment in the iconic slasher series, follows Sidney Prescott’s return to Woodsboro after a decade. The movie received generally positive reviews, holding a 61% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Inside the On-Screen Collaborations of Kristen Bell and Adam Brody
Wes Craven’s Scream 4 wasn’t the only time Kristen Bell and Brody shared the screen. The duo went on to collaborate on multiple projects, including the 2013 film Some Girl(s) and the 2017 action-comedy CHiPs, before Nobody Wants This.
In Some Girl(s), directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer, Brody played The Man, a writer traveling across the country to make amends with his former girlfriends before his wedding.

Bell portrayed Bobbi, one of his exes, whom he almost married before backing out. The movie received mixed to positive reviews, earning a 53% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising the cast’s performances.
Bell and Brody reunited in CHiPs, playing Karen Baker and Special Agent Clay Allen in the buddy-cop action film, which received underwhelming reviews.
Though these earlier collaborations didn’t leave an enormous mark individually, they proved valuable for the casting of Nobody Wants This.
How Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s Old Clips Sealed the Casting Decision

Bell and Adam Brody’s previous collaborations played a significant role in their casting in the hit Netflix drama Nobody Wants This. In a 2025 interview with Variety, casting director Brett Greenstein reflected on the process, revealing:
Kristen Bell was attached, and we knew the priority would be finding Noah since the show is really a two-hander. We went through the regular casting process, looking for Noah all over the world.
He also noted that Bell had been insisting on Brody for the role of Noah, arguing, “Noah is Adam Brody.” After reviewing multiple auditions, the team turned to clips of their past work together.
“Some clips were compiled where she and Adam had worked together in the past. Everyone could see the chemistry right away after watching those, and we made the offer to Adam,” Collin Daniel shared.
The duo is now set to return in Nobody Wants This Season 2, releasing Thursday, October 23, 2025.
