What Is Lollapalooza?

Originated as a touring event in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza revolutionized the modern music festival game. It has gone on to become one of the largest live music events in the world and one of the longest-running festivals in the U.S.

In 2005, Chicago became the permanent home to Lollapalooza — although international versions of the festival have popped up from Buenos Aires to Mumbai.

With four days of performances from over 170 artists across eight stages, Lollapalooza is the ultimate music festival experience, rounded out with a selection of food and drinks from Chicago’s most iconic eateries.

Where and When Is Lollapalooza 2025?

How Do I Buy Tickets?

Tickets to Lollapalooza 2025 are on sale now, with one-day general admission passes starting at $189. Festival-goers have the option to choose between general admission (GA), GA+, VIP and platinum, the latter of which starts at $2,080 for a single one-day pass.

Four-day passes range from $415 to $4,550, depending on the tier. Tickets can be purchased here for https://www.lollapalooza.com/.

Where Should I Stay?

Since the festival is located in the heart of Chicago, there are a plethora of options available for those looking to stay overnight near Grant Park. Lollapalooza has a dedicated site for booking a nearby hotel.

For a unique stay right in The Loop, Us recommends Staypineapple, a boutique hotel that combines historical touches with modern amenities, including bikes you can use to ride to the festival (Lolla offers bike valet!).

Anything Else to Know?

When you’re packing your bag for festival weekend, be sure it follows Lollapalooza’s bag policy: All bags larger than 6″ x 9″ must be smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ and clear.

CTA, Metra and Pace are public transit options to help you get to the festival, and the city of Chicago’s Regional Transportation Authority site has a dedicated trip planner tool to help you navigate your journey.

The most convenient parking garage (if you’re driving) is Millennium Garages, which offers 24-hour parking for $20 a day.

I Can’t Make It. Can I Watch the Festival From Home?

Yes! No need for FOMO — Lollapalooza is streamed on Hulu.
