Sylvester Stallone has been in Marvel movies himself, but working with one Marvel star on his series, Tulsa King, appears to have really left an impact on him: Samuel L. Jackson. In fact, while sharing how the Nick Fury portrayer scored a part in the hit crime drama series, he even called him an “aggressor” who wanted to work in his series “so badly.”
During a recent interview with Us Weekly, Stallone, 79, confessed that he had nothing to do with Jackson joining Dwight’s universe. He said about Jackson,
He was the aggressor. He wanted to do it so badly. He went to the producer. The producer came to me.
Continuing, he also noted how The Avengers actor “walks onto the set with complete confidence,” and the Taylor Sheridan series was no different to him. The Rambo star candidly admitted,
He knows he’s got it. He knows he’s the man. He has a certain swagger. I feel like, here it comes, high noon. It’s gonna be a gunfight between us two. He brings out the best.
As fans must know, Samuel L. Jackson made his debut as Russell Lee Washington Jr. in the penultimate episode of the third season of the hit TV series. He was revealed to be a hired hitman, and one of the best, at that.
Sylvester Stallone Talked About Working With Samuel L. Jackson

While Stallone himself is counted among the major stars in Hollywood, he appears to have found working alongside Jackson on Tulsa King to be both intimidating as well as motivating.
Talking about his experience working with the Django Unchained star during the interview with Us Weekly, he said,
Actors love to be challenged. At first, there may be a little intimidation, but once you get cooking. After the first punch is thrown, now you’re in it.
For those who might not know, after working on this series, Jackson will also be leading the upcoming spin-off series for this saga, Nola King, which will seemingly take place just after Russell leaves Tulsa. The same has yet to receive a release date, though (via Us Weekly).
Samuel L. Jackson Claimed He Was “Very Happy” to Be in Tulsa King

Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson was previously found gushing about getting to work on Tulsa King, and in Taylor Sheridan’s universe. Sharing his enthusiasm with Collider about scoring the opportunity to be a part of the same, he candidly gushed,
At least 15 of those shows are on my watchlist all the time, so I’m really happy to be in that universe. I was just talking to Pierce [Brosnan] about that earlier. I watched Tulsa King, and I liked it even before that idea came up.
Talking about the future of the series and his character in the show, Jackson also revealed in the June 2025 interview,
I know very little about what’s going to happen. I don’t know the character’s name. I don’t know what our history is. I don’t know anything about it, but I do know that I’m very anxious to jump into it and find out what it’s going to be.
Well, if he is that excited to be a part of the franchise, then fans might as well rest assured about the performances he is about to deliver in the same!
