The road to acclaim wasn’t an easy one for Euphoria star Alexa Demie, whose portrayal of fan-favorite Maddie garnered her global recognition. Having begun acting in 2015 with the short film Miles, the following years, prior to landing the HBO show, were filled with rejections, as the roles she auditioned for mostly went to blonde-haired, blue-eyed girls (via A24).
Because I wasn’t booking anything ever. Ever. It was really hard, especially because I feel like a lot of the lead roles I would go out for would go to a blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl.
Considering her career isn’t strictly confined to acting, as Demie had also explored music, after facing a string of rejections, the actor considered quitting acting for good before Euphoria came along.
Euphoria Convinced Alexa Demie to Reconsider Acting
Despite almost making up her mind to bid acting farewell in the wake of letdowns, things changed for the better once she got a hold of Euphoria‘s script, as she recalled resonating with the character of Maddy Perez.

However, securing the role wasn’t exactly a cakewalk, as some felt she didn’t look the part, which pushed Demie to prove herself as the best contender to materialize the fan-favorite figure for the small screen.
Even for Maddy, I think some people saw her as that. They didn’t really see her as me, so I had to go in and prove myself too
As the story goes, she was absolutely perfect as Maddy, and it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Demie in her shoes.
Will Alexa Demie Return in Euphoria Season 3?
Unlike her costars, who have gone on to carve major names for themselves in Hollywood after the show’s success, Demie has opted to keep a low profile and has been very picky with the projects she chooses.

Fortunately for fans, she will be reprising the role of Maddy as a series regular in the highly anticipated third season of the HBO hit, whose production finally concluded this month. Speaking of the wrap, Demie’s costar, Sydney Sweeney, described the experience as a bittersweet moment (via Variety).
It’s gonna be a really bittersweet moment. I’m kind of terrified for how emotional it’s gonna be. It’s been such a journey. It’s been my entire twenties. They’ve been my family and friends for so long. I’ve been forever grateful for all of them. I was 20 when I did the pilot, so being able to see a lot of the same people, it feels very comforting
With season 3 expected to be the end for the HBO hit, it’ll be interesting to see how things will conclude for Maddy and what lies ahead for Demie moving forward.
