Throughout the time that the Real Husbands of Hollywood raged on the screens, Kevin Hart didn’t hesitate to earn some really good laughs from his fans, especially through his scene with Shaquille O’Neal, aka Shaq. One of these very moments included the time that the former basketball player went off the script to hump Hart.
During his appearance on iHeartRadio’s The Breakfast Club podcast from a few months ago, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star talked about the same, sharing,
There’s only one time when Shaq has done some crazy sh-t, or I was uncomfortable. That one from Real Husbands when he [did] that whole thing on the internet today. It wasn’t scripted.
He went on to share what actually went down in that one moment, which has since gone on to make rounds on the internet as a pretty fine meme material. Clarifying that he wasn’t “going to make it seem like something it wasn’t” with a laugh, Hart shared the story:
This was when Shaq was like, when they were just talking about Shaq being a cop, and he really was a cop. We thinking it would be funny as f—. Shaq pulled me over in Real Husbands of Hollywood, and you know, Shaq is basically about the arrestment. Everybody can improv. So what he did was grab me when I got out of the car, and he just tried to get a little physical, right?
Continuing, he said in Shaq’s defence that not every comedian does improv the same way, and that scene was just the basketballer’s way of pulling something funny off. Hart said,
Like, everybody doesn’t improv the same. Comedy is an art. You ever see comedians when they try to improv? Some of them go too far, or they don’t know when to stop. […] So he grabs me, throws me over the car, and he’s like, ‘You don’t know what I can do,’ and he starts humping me.
As funny as that is, Kevin Hart went on to share how he remembers that no one was down to talk about that unscripted scene – not during the moment, and not even afterward! He hilariously revealed, laughing,
I remember Ralph directed that episode. I remember I looked en route, and I’m like, ‘Hey, did y’all? Is it big pages? Something happened?’ And they was like, ‘Alright, uh.’ [Laughs] Nobody wants to say sh-t to Shaq. They was like, ‘Alright, we got it! So let’s just move on.’ We just f—–g moved on! We didn’t even address it [afterward]! We were just like, ‘Everybody, just shut up.’
Well, all they really wanted to do was add yet another comical scene to the fan-favorite comedy series, Real Husbands of Hollywood. And, needless to say, they did it just perfectly!
Kevin Hart Shares His Reaction to When Shaquille OʼNeal Humped Him

While it’s surprising that no one said anything to Shaquille O’Neal when he randomly went off script to hump Kevin Hart, the actor also jokingly shared that he himself wasn’t really in a position to do much about it. This was because that scene was “before I put a little size on,” so that “frail version” of Hart couldn’t really stop Shaq.

As the Central Intelligence actor hilariously shared on The Breakfast Club podcast,
It was a moment when, honestly, to be real with y’all, I couldn’t do nothing about it. They got a cut, right? This was before I put a little size on – not to say that I could do something with Shaq – but that was a very frail version of me.
Adding to this, he also jokingly said that he would have handled that situation much differently had it played out today. Laughing about it, he said,
I’m older now and I’m in a much more controller state in my life when I would say something to Shaq. ‘You know, don’t do that. Right? Don’t f—–g [hump] me. Stop it, right?’ [Laughs] Like, a firm ‘Stop that.’
At the same time, Hart also didn’t hesitate to mention that he really holds “so much love” for Shaq, and that there were no hard feelings between them.
But, in that moment, that was Shaq trying to be funny, that’s my nigga. I have so much love [for him].
So while it was a hilarious moment, it didn’t leave behind any ill-will between the two, just a barrage of laughter that Hart continues to echo even now, while recalling that scene from the Real Husbands of Hollywood.
Did Shaquille OʼNeal Play a Pivotal Role in Kevin Hartʼs Success?

During the podcast, Kevin Hart was also asked to address whether Shaquille O’Neal played a pivotal role in his success in Hollywood at the beginning of his career, with his Shaquille O’Neal All-Star Comedy Jam. To this, Hart admitted that Shaq indeed was responsible, while also mentioning that he had initially taken that gig “as a favor.”
The Ride Along actor candidly said,
The special that actually launched, I would say, like, the bigger side of success in my comedy career. No b-llsh-t. It is Shaq’s All Star Comedy Jam that was a phoenix. You know what the crazy thing is? I did it as a favor. It was a favor.
Well, favor or not, Kevin Hart and Shaquille O’Neal certainly seem to have spent some really fine and hilarious moments together over the years, with both of them holding each other in a significant position in their respective lives. And, well, what more could all their fans across the globe ask for than this hilarious dynamic duo together?!
