The news that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are coming back for another Mummy movie hyped everyone up as soon as it was reported. And while we are super stoked to cherish the good old days, the lead star is more than excited to bring back the story and become the Rick O’Connell for every millennial again.
Talking to USA Today, the actor from Killers of the Flower Moon mentioned that he has just come from a fan convention in Minnesota, also adding,
I spend plenty of time at a desk signing so many pictures of Rick O’Connell and “Mummy” swag and posters in fan conventions.
He then went on to describe his ineffable feelings about how the audience still wants the adventure of the O’Connells to continue, and how he is excited for a whole generation that saw The Mummy series and is already introducing the franchise to their kids.
Fraser first starred in the aforementioned film series back in 1999 and went on to do a trilogy before taking a break from his acting career. Now that the original cast is back—after The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer—days ahead look nostalgic.
A Fourth Installment in the Mummy Franchise Was Already Scheduled for 2011

After the 2008 film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, another entry was already planned. The Mummy: Rise of the Aztec was supposed to be the fourth installment in the Mummy franchise. The 2011 scheduled movie was, however, cancelled, which was set to star Fraser alongside Weisz’s Evy again.
For those unversed, in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, the character of Evy was played by Maria Bello, an outing that failed to become a laconic story.
John Hannah was supposed to return as Jonathan Carnahan, and Luke Ford as the O’Connell’s son, Alex. According to Fandom, the cast even included Jeremy Irons, who we all know from The Lion King, as well as Kingdom of Heaven. David Ryall was too associated with the project.
The storyline would have followed an adventure to discover the Aztec gold, with Evy becoming a slave who would be put in front of the Aztec mummy as a sacrifice by the Peruvians.
The film would have been set in South America with Rob Cohen, who also directed the 2008 film, starring Jet li in the antagonist’s role. The movie would have been penned by Jon Spaihts, who is widely appreciated for his work on the prequel to Alien, Prometheus.
It is a high possibility that we will see the fourth Mummy entry around the cancelled story.
Actors We Feel Should Fill In for the Mummy: Rise of the Aztec Antagonist Role

Talking about The Mummy: Rise of the Aztec, the monster entry was supposed to star Antonio Banderas, who we all know from The Mask of Zorro, Spy Kids, and The Skin I Live In, in the antagonist’s role. We still feel he should be approached for the upcoming, unnamed Mummy movie.
Beside him, here’s a list of actors that we feel should take over the character of the Aztec Mummy.
Do let us know what you think of the fourth entry in the Mummy franchise, and keep visiting Fandomwire for more such intriguing updates.
