Ryan Reynolds is at the centre of backlash once again as fans unearth old, controversial bits of news about him. For instance, the time he himself jokingly admitted that he was jealous of his wife, Blake Lively’s love interest on The Age of Adaline, who was embodied by Michiel Huisman.
As shared by @Justice4BJS, after Steve Golin, who was attached to the film as an executive producer, was fired from the movie, the Deadpool star went on to joke about his jealousy over his wife and her co-star being called the ‘perfect pair’ in a tweet by Lionsgate.
Lionsgate tweeted in April 2015 (via The Standard):
@Blake_Lively and @Michiel_Huisman are the perfect pair! True love never looked so good. #AdalinePremiere.
This had Ryan Reynolds, who was busy filming Deadpool in Vancouver, Canada, at the time, responding in the comments section with:
Uh… I can HEAR you. @AgeOfAdaline #AgeOfAdaline #ladyinred.
While it was initially taken as a joke at the time when it was made, fans aren’t all that cool about it anymore, now that it has resurfaced to haunt the Free Guy actor. Plus, additional reports revealed that Reynolds even showed up to the set of The Age of Adaline a lot (per @Justice4BJS on X).
As a fan, @HelloKittyBraga, also pointed out in the comment section of the tweet, this one time, Lively also got candid about how her husband got jealous over “an Italian PT.” Per the source,
The way she described the man, he sounded like a Justin/Mishiel look-alike. This is the guy she worked with when her hand got injured shooting The Rhythm Section. Blake has a type, Ryan has a pattern.
That being brought up as well, Reynolds is truly being highlighted among the fans, and for all the wrong reasons. This is especially in the wake of his and Lively’s lawsuit with Justin Baldoni, which continues to embroil the couple in fire with each new update that has since popped up about the same.
Fans Are Connecting Steve Golin’s Firing From The Age of Adaline to the Justin Baldoni Lawsuit

Per additional reports from @Justice4BJS on X, it was revealed that prominent producer Steve Golin had been working on The Age of Adaline for around 10 years. However, he was let out soon after Blake Lively was hired to work on the film in the role of the lead character.
The producer, in turn, decided to take it to court. In a snippet attached to the tweet, it is written that the CEO of Anonymous Content finally let loose against Lakeshore Entertainment over its firing of him from the romantic drama Adaline. The breach of contract and unjust enrichment complaint he filed in the L.A. Superior Court read,
There is no polite way to put it: Lakeshore tried to pull a fast one to avoid honoring its obligations to prominent film, television, and commercial producer [Steve] Golin in connection with the upcoming film, Adaline, featuring Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn, and Blake Lively.
Additionally, as pointed out by the X handle @Justice4BJS, the lawsuit reportedly says that, at the time of the assignment, it was “understood and accepted that Golin was attached to the Adaline project and could only be removed for serious misconduct.” This, needless to say, sounds a lot familiar to the current legal troubles Lively is embroiled in.
As fans must already know, last year, the Gossip Girl actress accused her It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni of s-xually h-rassing her and even reportedly tried to take creative control of the film – all of which has landed her in the legal issues that she is currently battling with Baldoni.
Looking at this latest bit of evidence about Reynolds and Lively’s reported behavior on The Age of Adaline, now fans can’t help but further connect the dots between Steve Golin’s firing, Lively, and Reynolds’ lawsuit with Baldoni.
Justin Baldoni’s Private Texts Also Showed “The wrath of an angry husband,” Ryan Reynolds

The latest update in Justin Baldoni’s legal troubles with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds revealed new court documents featuring text messages from Baldoni, 41, which detailed a highly tense personal meeting that he had with Reynolds in January 2024.
As per the texts, the actor wrote that he was allegedly “ambushed” by Reynolds, and also that the private confrontation had left him “emotionally paralyzed.” He mentioned that the Deadpool star was “scolding” him like a child, and that he even read from a phone a list of allegations – many of which were loosely based on events, but “taken completely out of context.”
Baldoni mentioned in his texts that the words “creepy” and “abuse” were used to describe his behavior during this meeting, and he was also allegedly given a written apology to read aloud from, but was unable to go through with it due to his mind going into shock mode from the brutal confrontation that he couldn’t even properly formulate words.
Adding to this, in another text message, Baldoni called the situation “unjust” while revealing how he felt that he even wanted to “run and blow this whole movie up” before that traumatic turn of events. His texts revealed him saying,
My brain was struggling because what I wanted to say, and do was run and blow this whole movie up because I feel this was so unjust, and yet the only path forward was to acknowledge her and Ryan’s feelings and apologize, and take the wrath of an angry husband- yeah, I couldn’t even do that correctly.
As unjust as that sounds, fans are ostensibly connecting the dots between this newest evidence in the Baldoni-Lively case to what happened during The Age of Adaline, coming to the conclusion that the ones to blame for all the troubles, after all, are none other than Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively themselves.
To sum it up, these latest events have only further added fuel to the fire that currently surrounds Reynolds and Lively. But the final outcome of their legal troubles remains to be seen, as Lively’s case against Baldoni is set to go to trial in March 2026 in the Southern District of New York, as of this writing.
