After a successful first season run, Landman was revived for a second season, which is set to premiere on Paramount+ on November 16. But that’s not all. As it turns out, actor Sam Elliot is already looking forward to a third season of the show, even though showrunner Taylor Sheridan has already confirmed his departure from Paramount.
During a recent interview with Variety, he was asked if the cast was already talking about the next season, even though it hasn’t been confirmed yet. To this, Elliot said,
I’m looking past Season 2 already. We’re here talking about Season 2, but it’s all been done. I’m thinking about what’s to come, and I’m excited about what’s to come. The audience is excited about what’s to come right now. I’m excited about what’s to come next season that we haven’t even done yet.
So they haven’t even started working on a third season for the show, but Elliot is already pretty geared up about the same? Sounds like there might be a lot more written for Landman’s future than fans are expecting. But with Sheridan leaving, how will it continue?
Taylor Sheridan Has Paramount to Join NBCUniversal

Taylor Sheridan has been associated with Paramount Pictures for several years now and has even served as a dramatic backbone for the company. However, he is now reportedly ready to jump ship and join forces with NBCUniversal instead, as first reported by Puck News and later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
As it turns out, the prolific writer has signed a new mega-deal with Universal to develop TV shows and movies for the studio. As of this writing, his tenure with Universal will begin with a film that is set to go into production next year. But wait: Sheridan’s TV deal with Paramount is still not up until the end of 2028, with him expected to switch to Universal when it does.
That said, if they indeed work things out quickly the way they did with season one and season two, with the second season releasing within a year of the first season’s release, then he could be the one continuing the Landman lore with another season.
But since Paramount owns the franchises that Sheridan has created for it, a new creative head could be attached to this franchise as well, following Sheridan’s exit. As of this writing, what exactly will happen remains to be seen.
Sam Elliot Also Commented on Working With the Landman Cast

Besides talking about the future of Landman, Sam Elliot also expressed his gratitude and love for getting to work with this cast once again. It was revealed earlier this year that he was cast in Season 2 of the series, and now he is pretty excited to develop a new series with this “incredible crew” and “going back to Texas and working.”
Getting candid about what’s coming in the near future for them, Elliot said,
Just having the opportunity to work with all of these cast members, it’s that and the fact that we’ve got this incredible crew — a lot of them are people I worked with before on ‘1883.’ I love going back to Texas and working. There are just so many positive elements to this thing, and it makes it a joy to go to work.
That sums up just how buzzed he is about getting to be a part of the Landman saga. As for the future of this fan-beloved series, as of this writing, it remains to be seen, and fans must wait for official confirmation from the studios before getting their hopes up about the same.
