Tobey Maguire will reportedly don his red and blue suit and play Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, once again. This time around, it’s not for a fourth film in his Spider-Man film series, but rather, for Avengers: Doomsday (see @screentime on X).
According to the latest reports from entertainment industry insider Daniel Richtman, the OG web-slinger, who has effortlessly earned a massive fan following for himself over the years and is referred to as the GOAT Spidey by many, will reportedly appear in the upcoming fifth installment in the Avengers film series.
As fans already know, Maguire’s web-slinger (Peter 2 in the movie) last appeared in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. He was last seen going back to his own universe by the end of that movie. If the reports about his return are indeed true, then this will mark his second appearance in the MCU.

While reports claiming that there will be at least one Spider-Man in Doomsday are more recent, Tobey Maguire has long been speculated to be a part of this movie. This is because he was last snapped in London, and it wasn’t just a coincidence.
Through a picture shared by a fan, @Curtis1192 on X, it was revealed that he bumped into Maguire on the streets of London in September 2025. At the time, the production was ongoing for both Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday in London. So it didn’t take time for the speculation mill to churn and connect him to the two movies.
Now that even the industry insider has popped up with new claims about Maguire’s return, it could likely be that the actor has already filmed scenes for Doomsday in the MCU. This is because even the production of the said film wrapped up in the same month.
Will Tobey Maguire Be the Only Spider-Man Returning in Avengers: Doomsday?
As of this writing, no version of Spider-Man has been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Even the claims about Tobey Maguire’s return are only reports, as of now, yet to be officially confirmed. That said, yes, Tom Holland has not been confirmed to appear in this forthcoming fifth installment in the Avengers film series either.
While Andrew Garfield continues to remain highly out of the spotlight in the matter, it was revealed by insider Daniel Richtman in October 2025 that Holland is not a part of Doomsday. However, there is still a chance that he could appear in the movie, especially after the latest reports about the film’s planned reshoots, which are set to begin in spring 2026 (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Thus, as of this writing, the only web-slinger reported to return in Doomsday is Maguire alone. Confirmation about Holland and Garfield’s involvement in the same can’t be made, for now.
