Revered singer-songwriter Todd Snider has passed away at 59. Notable for shaping the alt-country and Americana scene in the 1990s, whose album, East Nashville Skyline, is often considered a pillar of alt-country, the acclaimed vocalist of Hard Working Americans died on Friday, November 15. A new message on his Facebook page read:
Aimless, Inc. Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has departed this world.
Although the details behind his passing remain undisclosed, it’s important to note that the singer was struggling with his health in the weeks leading up to his death, which involved his diagnosis with walking pneumonia.
Todd Snider Was Diagnosed With Pneumonia Before His Death
According to a note from his loved ones, the Just Like Old Times singer was reportedly hospitalized in Hendersonville, Tennessee, upon his return home after he started having trouble breathing.
The note claimed that he was diagnosed with a walking pneumonia and was later taken to additional medical facilities (via IG/toddsniderlive).

It further described the singer’s situation as a complication, revealing that he was being attended by doctors and his close ones remained by his side, urging everyone to hold the singer dear to their thoughts.
Right now we’re asking everyone who loves Todd to hold him in your thoughts in whatever way feels right to you. Say a prayer, light a candle, roll one up, send strength, or just keep him close in your heart. You’ve carried him through so much over the years, and he needs that from all of us now more than ever.
While we will have to wait until something official is unveiled by people close to the singer, his case of walking pneumonia, which he had been quietly suffering from, might’ve served as a contributing factor. However, even in death, the singer’s legacy and influence on alt-country will continue to define and influence millions of listeners.
Todd Snider was previously married to Melita Osheowitz, whom he divorced back in 2014. He didn’t have any children.
