Pierce Brosnan cut his ties with his son, Christopher, due to his drug addiction, and he talked about it back in 2005. He shared that Christopher’s problems had become so bad that he had to cut him off. Brosnan’s stepson struggled with cocaine and heroin addictions.
Brosnan shared that his son had tested everyone in the family with his issues, adding that he was testing himself more than anyone else. He shared that he had a strong belief that his son would recover from the addiction. He shared at the time (via RadarOnline):
Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is, but he’s having a hard life. I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family but none more so than himself. He knows how to get out. He doesn’t want to.
He shared that it was tough and painful to cut his son off, but added that he had no other choice. He shared that he kept Christopher in his prayers during their time apart. He shared:
It’s painful because you shut down. You never completely cut them off, but I have cut Christopher off. I had to say, ‘Go. Get busy living, or get busy dying.’ He has my prayers.
However, things seemed to have smoothed over between the father and son, as Brosnan was seen alongside his estranged son recently during a family dinner.
Pierce Brosnan Appears to Have Mended His Relationship With His Son
Pierce Brosnan was seen alongside his estranged son, Christopher, and his biological son, Dylan, during a family dinner in London (via RadarOnline). A source shared with the outlet that the father and son looked happy during their outing after their 20-year estrangement. The source shared:
They both looked happy and relaxed while sitting down with one of Brosnan’s other sons Dylan. Pierce and Christopher’s problems have been well documented. But it seems they’ve managed to put them behind them. It was really nice to see them together.
In 2022, Brosnan addressed Christopher in a Father’s Day post, sharing how he loved all of his children forever. He wrote, “My love forever to you dear sons, Paris, Dylan, Sean and Christopher, thank you deeply for your love on this Father’s Day.”
Christopher Is the Biological Son of Pierce Brosnan’s Late Wife
Christopher is the biological son of Pierce Brosnan’s late wife, Cassandra Harris, who had him with ex-husband Dermot Harris. Christopher worked as an assistant director on two of Brosnan’s James Bond films, including The World Is Not Enough.
Brosnan adopted both Christopher and his sister Charlotte when their biological father, Dermot, died in 1986. However, the family’s story is filled with tragedy as both Cassandra and Charlotte succumbed to ovarian cancer. Cassandra died in 1991, while Charlotte passed away in 2013.
Brosnan and Cassandra also had a son, Sean William Brosnan. Christopher ran into trouble many times after his mother passed away. In 1997, he was jailed for three months and fined 1000 U.K. pounds for DUI. He was banned from the Browns nightclub in London after he was involved in a massive brawl.
He was also arrested for theft at Chinawhite, a celebrity hotspot in London. However, the charges were later dropped. Brosnan went on to meet his current wife, Keely Shaye Smith, in 1994. They got married in 2001 at Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo, Ireland.
