The latest rumor about Avengers: Doomsday has left fans both happy and concerned about the movie. Robert Downey Jr. returns to the franchise in the role of Doctor Doom. However, insider Daniel Richtman revealed that Downey Jr. won’t be the only one playing Doom in the movie (via Comic Book Movie).
Before circling in on Doom, Marvel Studios was supposed to go with Jonathan Majors’ Kang as the big baddie in the Avengers movies. However, his legal troubles caused his exit and the introduction of a new villain after scrapping Kang.
It appears that the studio is not ready to scrap the idea of a whole Council of Kangs, which was shown in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Instead of the Council of Kangs, Doomsday will now have its version of the Council of Dooms, with Richtman suggesting the appearance of multiple Doom variants.
While he didn’t mention whether the Council of Dooms work with or against Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom, he did mention that there will be a female Doctor Doom in the mix. If Marvel wanted to cast an actress in the role of the villainous Doom, here are a few options that the studio could think of:
10. Sigourney Weaver

After fighting the otherworldly creatures in the Alien, Ghostbuster, and Avatar movie franchises, no one could really argue against Sigourney Weaver‘s capability to play Doctor Doom in Marvel. The villain role would certainly be a change of pace for film history’s one of the greatest protagonists, but she could easily bring her acting prowess into the role.
Weaver has already associated herself with another major Disney-owned franchise, with her role in the upcoming movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu. And mind you, the actress is already 76 years old. So this option is more viable only if Marvel is down for an older version of the villain in the franchise.
9. Marion Cotillard

After convincingly playing the antagonist in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, Marion Cotillard should have been on Marvel’s radar for a villain role. The French film actress can easily nail the role of the female version of Downey Jr.’s villain in Avengers: Doomsday.
Many fans might still not be over the terrible acting choice she portrayed during her final moments in Nolan’s movie. However, her Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as French singer Édith Piaf in La Vie en Rose is a testament to her ability to pull off wonders.
8. Demi Moore

After a year marked by the second coming of Demi Moore, fans would be excited to see her make her Marvel debut. The Substance actress showed fans how she could transform for a particular role and went on to earn several awards and nominations, including an Oscar nod.
PEOPLE‘s most beautiful woman in the world in 2025 deserves more projects after her successful run in the awards circuit this year. Doomsday could potentially offer her the bigger, better post-Substance role as female Doctor Doom, something which Taylor Sheridan’s Landman failed to give her.
7. Betty Gilpin

Betty Gilpin has been in the industry for some time now, but her roles have seen some shift in recent years. Gilpin played Dr. Carrie Roman in Nurse Jackie from 2013 to 2015 and later went on to play Debbie Eagan in Netflix’s GLOW. The latter role earned her three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
However, the 2020 horror thriller The Hunt showed a different side of Gilpin that was more brutal and rustic. She also recently appeared in Peter Berg’s Western hit series, American Primeval, as a wanted fugitive. It appears that she is now ready for her big franchise role as Doctor Doom.
6. Melanie Laurent

Melanie Laurent is another French actress who could be considered for the role of female Doctor Doom. After her French films gained acclaim with critics, she won over the American and international audiences with her role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.
Laurent also appeared in movies like Now You See Me and 6 Underground. She is also a filmmaker who directed and acted in the Netflix French action comedy film, Wingwomen.
5. Eva Green

Eva Green could make for a great female version of Doom in Avengers: Doomsday after her several villainous and femme fatale roles. We have seen her as the sorceress Morgan in Camelot, the witch Angelique Bouchard in Dark Shadows, and the general Artemisia in 300: Rise of an Empire.
She also played complex femme fatale characters like Ava Lord in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Milady de Winter in The Three Musketeers. The Bond girl actress has already proven that she has no problem wearing a costume and becoming the big bad villain in a movie.
4. Jessica Alba

How cool would it be if Marvel brought back the OG Susan Storm as female Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday? Marvel already did this with Chris Evans’ Captain America role. And there were rumors that Jessica Alba would potentially appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps as an alternate universe Sue Storm. But that didn’t happen.
With this new rumor about Doctor Doom, Marvel could pull a crazy move and bring back Alba. She is currently focusing on her acting career after her divorce and has already appeared in the action movie Trigger Warning. What makes things more interesting is the fact that she is dating Marvel actor Danny Ramirez.
3. Rebecca Ferguson

Fans still have no clue why Rebecca Ferguson hasn’t already made her Marvel debut. She is fantastic in action roles, as proved by the Mission: Impossible movies and AppleTV+’s Silo series. And she has got the acting chops to be a complex female character in a big franchise movie, as proved by her role in the Dune movies.
Ferguson can easily be a choice for Doctor Doom in Doomsday with her filmography. She recently appeared as Captain Olivia Walker in Netflix’s A House of Dynamite.
2. Milla Jovovich

We have yet to see Milla Jovovich in a Marvel role, although her daughter made her Marvel debut before the actress. Her daughter, Ever Anderson, played the role of a young Natasha Romanoff in the 2021 film, Black Widow. Earlier this year, a rumor from LiveWarrior insiders said that Jovovich was in talks to play the female version of Beyonder (via r/MCUTheories).
Keeping the Beyonder theory aside, Jovovich would be an excellent casting choice for the role of Doctor Doom. She already has plenty of action roles in her filmography, including Resident Evil, The Fifth Element, Monster Hunter, and most recently, In the Lost Lands. She would blend right in with the Doomsday cast.
1. Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale doesn’t back down from an intense action role, as seen in movies like Underworld: Blood Wars. She recently filmed her own stunts for movies like Jolt and Canary Black. While the movies didn’t perform up to critical standards, Marvel can cast the actress in the role of Doctor Doom.
She would do great action scenes and might not have a problem working on the wires for her role. Playing the character of Doom requires a lot of commitment, as shown by Robert Downey Jr. recently, and Beckinsale would give her one hundred percent to the role.
