Lily Allen has said a lot through her new album, and now, it looks like David Harbour will soon be fighting back. The singer’s fifth studio album contains lyrics about their marriage and its undoing, including infidelity accusations against the Stranger Things actor.
Sources have claimed that Harbour’s prepared to “set the record straight” about their marriage, placing Stranger Things Season 5 promotions on the back burner for now. After all, fixing his reputation might need his undivided attention.
A source told Radar Online that Harbour has had enough of everyone labeling him as the bad guy, and he is ready to “fight back“.
David’s had enough. He’s kept quiet while everyone labels him the bad guy, but that silence won’t last forever. Those around him say he’s ready to speak out – and what he has to share could completely rewrite the story of their marriage.
The insider believes that Harbour’s truth could come out “in the form of a tell-all interview or even a book“, adding, “Lily needs to watch out.” Apparently, Harbour is “gearing up” to fix the damage done to his reputation.
Lily’s inner circle think she might be pushing her luck. The album’s been a massive hit, but if David decides to hit back with his side, the consequences could be explosive. He feels he’s been painted as the villain – and he’s gearing up to clear his name.
Only time will tell what grim truth Harbour’s keeping under wraps, and when he’ll finally drop the bomb.
What Has Lily Allen Said About Her New Album, West End Girl?

It’s no secret that West End Girl has been critically acclaimed, earning itself a score of 84 out of 100 on Metacritic. The album can be described as brutal, unforgiving, and its storytelling format is nothing short of a masterpiece.
While the divorce album has fans wondering exactly what went so wrong between the ex-couple, Allen told British Vogue that not everything on it should be treated as “gospel“.
There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel. It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.
On the other hand, talking to Perfect magazine, Allen stated that making the album was “incredibly manic” and “emotionally traumatic” for her. However, she added, “but nothing felt forced. It just sort of fell out of me. And I think that’s what happens when you’re writing from a place of truth, and without an agenda.”
She claimed that West End Girl could be considered “autofiction“, before adding, “what was going on in my life was really confusing, because I didn’t actually know what was going on in my life. I wasn’t sure what was real and what was in my head. So there’s a certain amount of, like, joining dots.”
Allen also stated that the woman whose perspective is shown in the album is not her, but an “alter ego.”
West End Girl Lyrics Seemingly About David Harbour and Lily Allen’s Relationship

From the titular track to Fruityloop, Allen’s 14-track album tells a story about a part of her life that has become a hot topic of discussion lately. Starting off strong with the first song on the list, West End Girl, Allen sings about her moving to New York for her wedding.
As the song progresses, Allen’s voice becomes sadder as the person on the other side of a phone conversation seemingly asks for an open relationship. From singing about moving to New York and finding a “nice little rental near a sweet little school” and “looking at houses with four or five floors“, she goes,
Hi, how are you? I miss you! Yeah… Huh?… Yeah… Right… Erm… OK… Well, I mean, it doesn’t make me feel great… If that’s what you need to then…. I guess… Well, h-how will it work?… Right… I mean, it makes me really sad, but…. Mhm… Mhm… No, I’m fine, I’m fine, I just — I want you to be happy… OK… OK, I’ll speak to you later. I love you.
In the second song, Ruminating, the woman is going through sleepless nights thinking about her partner being physically involved with another girl. She sings, “I’ve been up all night…Did you kiss her on the lips and look into her eyes…Did you have fun?…No that it’s done, baby, won’t you tell me that I’m still your number one?“
Then in Madeline, the album’s fifth track, Allen alleges that there was an “arrangement” in their marriage: “Be discreet and don’t be blatant…there had to be payment…it had to be with strangers…but you’re not a stranger, Madeline.” Talking to The Times, Allen did admit that Madeline is a “construct of others“, while costume designer Natalie Tippett came forward claiming to be her (via Metro).
In Tennis, Allen sings about how her partner developed an emotional connection to the other woman he had been seeing. She also has a “conversation” with Madeline, asking her for answers.
Then comes the album’s most unhinged song, “P*ssy Palace“, where she calls her partner a “s*x addict“ and lists off all the items she found at their West Village apartment when she went to drop his essentials off after kicking him out. The items included, “Duane Reade bag with the handles tied / S*x toys, butt plugs, lube inside / Hundreds of Trojans…”
There is more from where this comes from, and now, the ball is in Harbour’s court. Will he reply to the lyrics or will he take the high road? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
