After Jimmy Kimmel, Donald Trump Targets Another TV Host: “Truly deranged lunatic”

By Mark Lopez 11/02/2025

Donald Trump launched a sharp rebuke at NBC’s Seth Meyers on November 1, 2025, following the host’s comedic takedown of his military address. Trump posted on Truth Social:

Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television. In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise. I watched his show the other night for the first time in years.

In it he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults. On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic. Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!

The outburst reflects Trump’s intensifying conflict with late-night hosts, following ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel in September and the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s show in July.

Trump Watched Seth Meyers Mock His Naval Defense Preferences On TV

During visits to the USS George Washington aircraft carrier in Yokosuka, Japan, on October 27 and 28, 2025, Trump delivered remarks criticizing the Navy’s Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS). He announced plans to sign an executive order requiring new aircraft carriers to use traditional steam catapults instead.

Trump told sailors that the Navy was spending billions on systems he considered inferior, stating, “they’re spending billions of dollars to build stupid electric,” (via Eurasian Times). He directly polled sailors on their preference, with most responding “steam.” (via ABC)

Meyers responded on October 30 during his A Closer Look segment with pointed comedy. The host joked that Trump “spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote” and created a segment called Seth Translates Trump to English, impersonating the president making absurd statements about using catapults to catch roadrunners (via The Independent).

Meyers also commented on Trump’s response to criticism, noting that “If anyone dares to say anything less than glowing, Trump loses his s–t” and accused Trump of viewing criticism as treason (via The Daily Beast).

Trump’s claim that he watched Meyers “for the first time in years” contradicts his documented history of attacking the host on social media since August 2025.

Jimmy Kimmel Survived Suspension Only To Face Renewed Threats From Trump?

Jimmy Kimmel returned to ABC on September 23, 2025, after a six-day suspension triggered by his remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination. His first episode drew 6.26 million viewers, the highest in show history and nearly four times his typical 1.6 million audience.

However, viewership dropped sharply. By September 25, the show pulled 2.3 million viewers, a 64 percent decline, though still above pre-suspension levels. The initial spike was driven by media coverage and audience interest in his return monologue.

Just one hour before Kimmel’s return aired, Trump posted on Truth Social: “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back.” Trump referenced ABC News’ $15 million settlement to his presidential foundation in December 2024 following George Stephanopoulos’ incorrect legal statement (via Fortune).

The suspension cost Disney $4.99 billion in market value as investors expressed concern about silencing major talent (via Aljazeera). Broadcast station groups Nexstar and Sinclair, operating 25 percent of ABC’s local affiliates, boycotted carrying the show, preventing roughly 20 percent of U.S. households from viewing locally (via New York Times).

Over 400 public figures, including Selena Gomez and Natalie Portman, signed an open letter condemning the suspension as threatening free speech (via ACLU). Trump has also called for NBC to fire both Meyers and Jimmy Fallon, describing them as “two total losers.
