David Harbour’s Inspiring Mental Health Tweet Resurfaces Amid Shocking Millie Bobby Brown Accusations

By Kevin Garcia 11/02/2025

Day by day, we are coming closer to the release of Stranger Things Season 5. As Netflix is wrapping up one of the greatest stories ever told, Millie Bobby Brown came forth with some accusations against her co-star, David Harbour. Following this, an old tweet by the Hellboy actor resurfaced, in which he had described his mental health.

Brown had accused Harbor of bullying her before the cast and crew began working on the science fiction thriller series’s final outing. This had even prompted Netflix to look into the matter seriously.

While details on the case are being kept under wraps, the Black Widow actor’s old social media post has grabbed the attention of the audience. The post in question is from 2018, in which Harbour is seen wishing his followers on World Mental Health Day.

Today is World Mental Health day and a day to remind you that I have struggled and lived with bipolar 2 for 17 years. Abandon shame, embrace yourself and your diagnosis. You can have a rich, successful life and a vital cultural voice. We need you. Happy responsible medicating❤️

Not only that, but the actor gave hope to those struggling with his positive words, also describing the event of his bipolar diagnosis that happened almost 17 years ago. The post read about Harbour’s struggle with the mental disease, along with wise words,

“You can have a rich, successful life and a vital cultural voice. We need you. Happy responsible medicating”

For those unversed, Harbour plays the adoptive father of Brown’s Eleven in Stranger Things. The two actors have been associated with the series from its very inception.

David Harbor Was Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder in His Mid-Twenties

Besides Stranger Things, many of Harbour’s fans know him for his outstanding performance in outings such as Thunderbolts*, Violent Night, War of the Worlds, and even Suicide Squad. However, not many are aware of the actor’s mental health issues.

It was back in 2022 that Harbor shed light on his past life and how he was once struggling with bipolar disorder. Opening up to Big Issue, the actor stated, “My particular big issue is what society would call mental illness.” He further told the outlet,

“I was diagnosed at 26 as bipolar after an episode that landed me in an institution. I have been struggling with the medical model of mental illness for a long time.”

Harbour also mentioned how he had,

“Been in and out of the system. And there were times in my life where very easily I could have ended up on the streets, but I luckily had a family who could support me through those lean and very trying times.”

Spilling the beans about his acting career, Harbour also stated that before Stranger Things, he was struggling to get acting jobs as well.

Details on Millie Bobby Brown’s Bullying Accusations Against David Harbor

It came as a shock to everyone when the 21-year-old actress accused Habour of bullying. Per Radar, Brown had filed a formal complaint against her co-star. Following the British actress’s claims, Hrabour soon became the subject of an internal inquiry within Netflix.

Meanwhile, it is crucial to know that Brown’s claims did not involve any sexual misconduct allegations. An insider close to the matter stated to Radar,

“Mille Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season. There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months.”

While the streamer is closely investigating the matter, no outcome is being discussed at the moment as Netflix plans to focus on the finale of Stranger Things and not on the controversy. Amid the ongoing issue, a source from Netflix addressed Stranger Things Season 5 to be “a theatrical event.”

“Nothing is going to overshadow this, not even the leading man’s private life.”

Brown will be seen alongside Harbour in the final entry of Stranger Things this month. The two will be joined by highly acclaimed names such as Winona Ryder, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Natalia Dyer, and others.
