By George Brown 10/31/2025

One of the most veteran TV soap opera actresses just revealed a news that has shocked everyone. Suzanne Rogers recently divulged the details about her cancer diagnosis and whether she underwent treatment. During an interview with TV Insider, she assured,

Now, I’m feeling anxious like I do any time I get scripts because I want to do my very best and you don’t want to hold up anybody. So that’s the only anxiousness I feel. It’s not because of my illness, let’s put it that way.

Her die-hard fans remember Rogers from one of the longest-running TV shows, Days of Our Lives. The series premiered its first season in 1965 and has been running successfully ever since. Her other outings include Little House on the Prairie.

Suzanne Rogers Reveals Her Experience Following Cancer Diagnosis

The Day of Our Lives star had a deep conversation with TV Insider recently. Talking to the outlet, Rogers revealed she was shocked when her doctor told her, “You have cancer and you have to start treatment.”

This was after the regular routine of colonoscopies that the actress followed meticulously. Per the outlet, a surgeon, who looked at her results, came to Rogers and  asked, “I want you to have an MRI and I want you to have a PET scan and I’m going to do a biopsy.”

The minute he said that, I knew that it was something more.

She described her emotions in that moment. What shocked her to the core were the words of the doctor telling her the results.

It was all a shock. I mean, I think I was in a shock for several days because I take pretty good care of myself. But he said, ‘It’s a good thing you caught it in time.’

With a positive mindset, as soon as Rogers was done with her part in the series, on June 13, she entered the radiation, within three days.

It was radiation every day and chemo every day for six weeks and it was tough. It was tough knowing you had to do it five days a week and then you had off Saturday and Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekends because I didn’t have to go to and see a doctor. I was so tired of seeing doctors.

It was her friend, Sunie Ostermann, as well as Linsey Godfrey, who plays her daughter’s role in Days of Our Lives, who supported her during the tough days. Describing her terrifying moment during the therapy, Rogers mentioned,

It was scary. When I had to go see a doctor, one of them would go with me because you get to a point where once they say cancer, you don’t hear anything else.

The highly acclaimed actress told the outlet. Luckily, her absence on the set was not noticed as the summer schedule of the series resumed after a six-week hiatus. This helped her even more as she was able to take a break and get healthy again. Meanwhile, even the producers offered her support, keeping her role at bay, to return to when she felt better.
