Arnold Schwarzenegger is pointing out how the Republicans have zero representation in some states due to gerrymandering, and Elon Musk is seconding him. Schwarzenegger answered Jake Tapper’s question during an interview on CNN about whether the “extreme gerrymandering” was started by the current Republican Party in power.
The FUBAR actor shared that the gerrymandering has been “going on for 200 years.” He further shared instances of gerrymandering in the blue states that left Republicans with zero representation. He shared:
There is such extreme gerrymandering going on that in a state like Massachusetts, it has like 40% of the people voting for Trump, they have zero representatives. The Republican Party has zero representatives sent to the House. Think about that.
He also shared that New Mexico had a similar case where 45% of people voted for Trump, but the state had no Republican representatives. Elon Musk retweeted this interview on X.

He shared on his post, “Zero is a low number,” agreeing with what Schwarzenegger said. Despite his affiliation with the Republican Party, the actor had endorsed Kamala Harris in the previous election.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Previously Raised Concerns About Partisan Gerrymandering

Arnold Schwarzenegger previously shared about gerrymandering in a 2017 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, “It’s an issue where there should be no advantage or disadvantage to any party” (via CBS News). He helped push through Proposition 11, which set up the nonpartisan California Citizens Redistricting Commission
This commission would draw the district lines for California legislative seats. In most of the other states, the legislature controls the drawing of political districts. Schwarzenegger shared, “Gerrymandering has created an absurd reality… where politicians now pick their voters instead of the voters picking their politicians.”
His comments came in the backdrop of the Wisconsin gerrymandering case at the time, where plaintiffs accused the GOP-controlled state legislature of enacting a redistricting plan that amounted to “unconstitutional partisan gerrymander.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger Has Been Vocal Against Donald Trump

In a long tweet before the U.S. elections in 2024, Arnold Schwarzenegger warned voters that a Donald Trump presidency would be “four more years of bullsh*t with no results.” He blasted the current president, calling him “un-American.” He went on to endorse Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, sharing, “I will always be an American before I am a Republican.”
However, he shared that he did not like “either party”, adding, “I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.” The actor reflected on his time in politics and shared that it taught him to “love policy and ignore politics.” He shared in the tweet:
My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, driven up deficits, and rejected election results. Democrats aren’t any better at dealing with deficits, and I worry about their local policies hurting our cities with increased crime.
In August 2025, Schwarzenegger went after Trump and lambasted him for an “embarrassing” press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Schwarzenegger shared in a video that Trump stood beside Putin like “a little fanboy.”
He further mocked Trump, sharing, “I mean, I was asking myself, when you gonna ask him for an autograph or for a selfie or something like that?” The Predator actor continued with his criticism:
You’ve literally sold out at this press conference, our intelligence community, our justice system, and worst of all, our country. You’re the president of the United States. You shouldn’t do that. And what’s the matter with you?
Schwarzenegger has been a registered Republican for years. He accompanied then-Vice President George H.W. Bush during the 1988 presidential election. He announced his candidacy in the 2003 California recall election and went on to become the Governor of California from 2003 to 2011.
