Fans know Adam West as one of the first actors to bring Batman to the big screen. However, there is a wild side to the actor that many fans don’t know about. Over the years, the late actor revealed stories from the sixties when he was still filming Batman and having s*x with multiple women.
West revealed that he and his Batman co-star Burt Ward, who played Robin, were like “kids in a candy store” (via Page Six). He shared, “It was the Swinging Sixties with free love and women threw themselves at us.” He went on to explain several of his s*xual adventures while he played the Dark Knight.
He revealed that he would have young female actresses in his dressing room very early in the morning. He also revealed a particularly wild night, when he had s*x with eight different women at the same time. He shared:
I remember one night with eight different women. Orgy is a harsh word, but it was eight at one time.
He recalled that Frank Gorshin, who played The Riddler, was part of this group. He also once admitted to the challenges of having s*x when he was in his latex Batman costume. He shared, “Because of the physical limitations of the costume, you gotta have quickies.”
What Did Adam West’s Batman Co-Star Burt Ward Say About His Wild Side?
Burt Ward, who played Batman’s sidekick alongside Adam West, had plenty to say about his co-star’s wild side. Ward claimed he was a 20-year-old naive man when he entered the Batman set. He had only dated a couple of girls until then. However, West changed his world.
Ward shared during an interview, “When I entered Batman as a naive 20-year-old who had only dated a couple of girls, I met Adam West, who immediately introduced me to the wildest sexual debauchery that you can imagine.” He claimed that women were “banging on our windows” when they were already with other women.
He further details their wild adventures, sharing that they get wild everywhere during filming. They also got really wild when making personal appearances over the weekend. He shared:
We’re talking about wild times in the dressing rooms, on the set, between the shots, in the lunch wagon. And then of course, doing the personal appearances on the weekend, that’s where it really got wild. And I have to be honest with you, we became like s*xual vampires
Ward admitted that their s*xual adventures were largely due to their costumes. He shared, “If you look at our show, you’ll see that we always stood with our legs open, our fists on hips and our bat bulges forward, which had a profound effect on women.” However, some don’t believe everything Ward said to be entirely true.
Adam West Described His Friendship With Burt Ward as Problematic
Adam West and Burt Ward’s friendship on the Batman set was often described as problematic by the Family Guy actor. West shared during a profile for The Independent that Ward often cooked up stories to sell his books. He claimed that Ward wrote flattering stories about him in his books. West shared:
Burt fell victim to making up stories to sell books. But in a way it was flattering, because he made me sound like King Kong.
Adam West was married three times during his lifetime (via THR). He was first married to his college girlfriend, Billie Lou Yeager. They divorced after six years of marriage. In 1957, he married a Cook Islands dancer, Ngatokorua Frisbie Dawson. They divorced in 1962, but not before having two children.
His third and lasting marriage was to Marcelle Tagand Lear in 1970. They had two children and lived more than 46 years together before West’s death.
