Taylor Swift has a long list of friends she has loved and lost, and Karlie Kloss is one of them. The singer and the Victoria’s Secret angel were thick as thieves at one point, constantly hanging out and supporting each other.
Their friendship goes all the way back to 2013 (via Business Insider), when they came across each other backstage at a VS Fashion Show. Since then, they were practically attached at the hip, taking road trips together and modeling for a joint Vogue cover. Their bond ran so deep that Kloss even had a bedroom in Swift’s NY apartment.
As they took a road trip through Big Sur in March 2014, Kloss posted a photo of them together, captioning the Instagram post, “Adventures of a lifetime with my girl.“

Kloss and Swift have been spotted hanging out multiple times over the years, but the last time they were seen together was on October 28, 2016. They were photographed walking into Drake‘s birthday party celebrations at the popular Los Angeles club, Delilah.
A fan pointed out that the party took place exactly 2,190 days before the release of Swift’s album, Midnights, which has a song that may be linked to the night. In Glitch, Swift sings, “But it’s been two thousand one hundred and ninety days of our love blackout.”
Since this was the last time Kloss and Swift were spotted together, fans were convinced that the song was hinting at the “blackout” in their friendship. However, it’s worth noting that the date of the birthday party mentioned on the Internet is different from the date in the post below:

On the other hand, the “blackout” theory doesn’t hold much weight, as Kloss did post a birthday wish for Lorde on her Instagram, with a photo featuring Swift. If they really had a falling out, Kloss probably wouldn’t have posted the snap, would she?
Karlie Kloss’ Connection to Taylor Swift’s Nemesis, Scooter Braun
There is no way you haven’t at least caught wind of the feud between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun, especially after the Fate of Ophelia singer has been so vocal about how he and Scott Borchetta stabbed her in the back all those years ago.

Swift’s explosive Tumblr post about the sale and betrayal was posted on June 30, 2019, and on August 10, 2019, Kloss was seen vacationing with Braun alongside her husband and a few others. While many picked sides during the Swift vs. Braun debate, Kloss stayed quiet on the whole matter, but her post spoke volumes. She was also managed by him at one point.

A user wrote, “Karlie picked the wrong side :/“, while many others commented with Swift’s lyrics from her songs, The Archer: “‘Cause all of my enemies started out friends.” Interestingly, The Archer is from the Lover album, which was released shortly after the drama began.
Moreover, despite being inseparable at one time, Swift was not at either of Kloss’ weddings with Joshua Kushner. For context, Kushner and Kloss tied the knot in a private ceremony in October 2018 and had a larger celebration later in June 2019. While Swift was not present on either day, Braun sure was. So was Katy Perry, with whom Swift also had bad blood.
Fans also believe that Swift’s It’s Time to Go from Evermore contains a dig at Kloss. She sings, “When the words of a sister come back in whispers / That prove she was not in fact what she seemed / Not a twin from your dreams / She’s a crook who was caught.“
Is There Really Bad Blood Between Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss?
People can say and speculate what they want about the relationship between the two powerhouses, but the reality might not be as dramatic as some may have been expecting.
While Taylor Swift hasn’t confirmed a “blackout” or a falling out, the latter was present at the Eras Tour on August 09, 2023, where she was seen dancing and singing to songs like Shake It Off and Bad Blood. However, she was seated in the regular section, as compared to Sadie Sink and Halsey, who were present in the VIP tent.

Kloss was also asked about the alleged falling out between her and Swift during an interview with the NY Times. She simply replied, “Don’t believe everything you read.“
If that’s not all, Kloss also showed silent support for Swift after she announced her engagement to Travis Kelce. The supermodel was one of many celebrities and well-wishers who left a supportive like on the post. A subtle yet loud move.
