David Harbour and Lily Allen had been married since 2020, though their union came to an end in late 2024, with reports surfacing about Harbour’s alleged infidelity in their marriage. Apparently, the Thunderbolts* star had an affair with a costume designer for as long as three years while still being wed to Allen, who is the daughter of Keith and Allison Owen.
Per reports from the Daily Mail, Allen was left in ‘agony’ when she allegedly found out about Harbour’s being on the celebrity dating app, Raya. However, what she didn’t know was that Harbour had also been romantically involved with a colleague for at least three years, who was allegedly a younger costume designer that the outlet chose not to name.
Apparently, the actor’s romance with the said colleague became so serious that he even paid for her to travel more than 400 miles to visit him while he was working on Stranger Things. As an associate claimed to the newspaper,
David cheated on Lily. They met on a movie they did together. They weren’t very secretive about their relationship. David flew her to Atlanta while he shot Stranger Things to keep him company.
Allen, who herself met Harbour on Raya in 2019 before the pair tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2020, allegedly turned detective when she started speculating her partner was cheating on her. She reportedly joined the app herself, pretending to be ‘looking for women’, when she allegedly found out that Harbour had, in fact, set up a new dating profile.
Even Lily Allen’s friends from London confirmed that the singer had suspected her husband’s interest in other women, saying, “Lily is of the belief that he has been open to meeting new people for some time now, though she only found out at the end of the summer. He has been living in Atlanta for a year for filming.” Harbour also bought a home in Atlanta in 2024 to be closer to the Stranger Things set.
Lily Allen Became Suicidal After Her Split From David Harbour
Soon after separating from David Harbour, Lily Allen had to take some time off due to her spiralling mental health. While she already had “real problems with my food over the years,” things turned worse in the thick of the breakup as she shared, “It got really, really, really bad.”
What made everything even harder for her was the fact that she had used drugs and alcohol in her past as her way out of these feelings of despair, but being six years sober, she couldn’t relapse and trek back down that road again. In an interview with British Vogue, she confessed,
The feelings of despair that I was experiencing were so strong. The last time that I felt anything like that, drugs and alcohol were my way out, so it was excruciating to sit with those [feelings] and not use them.
Thus, for the first time in her life, to get past that phase, she put herself into a residential facility. Talking about the same, she shared,
I’ve been into those places before against my will, and I feel like that’s progress in itself. That’s strength. I knew that the things I was feeling were too extreme to be able to manage, and I was like, ‘I need some time away.’
When asked what sign she got that made her realize that this was different, Allen’s honest response was admitting to being suicidal after her split. She said, “That I wanted to die.”
In a more recent interview with Perfect Magazine, she also opened up about how her marriage with David Harbour didn’t help her self-worth, or her concerns about being too old, not good-looking enough, or a failure, about which she has written in her new record. Allen said,
I don’t think that my previous relationship has helped me with any of that…With self-worth, yeah. I have deep-rooted issues with rejection and abandonment, which I’ve been tussling with for most of my adult life and probably quite a lot of my childhood as well. And I was having, like, an extreme reaction to things at the time.
Talking about that period of her life, she also pointed out that she left to join the dots by herself when it came to Harbour’s affair, as he reportedly refused to give answers about the same. The singer said,
I also think that what was going on in my life was really confusing, because I didn’t actually know what was going on in my life. I wasn’t sure what was real and what was in my head. So there’s a certain amount of, like, joining dots. When you are not given answers, your brain is full of lots of questions. But also, at the same time, I’m like, I don’t have to get involved with it. But something in me says that I do.
She continued to admit that being in a relationship is “not the answer to all of my problems, in fact, it’s probably the opposite.” At the same time, she also mentioned how it “feels like the easier option. But also quite hard to achieve in this current climate.”
That said, she also put it out there that “there are definitely some things that happened in my real life that are reflected on this record,” meaning her pain and suffering made its way into her music as well. Needless to say, Lily Allen was truly put in a tough position when she found out about Harbour’s reported extra-marital affairs, and now she appears to be putting it all out.

As Lily Allen continues to open up about her tough journey of navigating through all these relationship and marital issues, David Harbour is earning mixed reactions over the cheating allegations.
On the one hand, some fans have even gone as extreme as to say that actors like him who cheat on their partners should not even book roles in Hollywood. On the other hand, multiple fans are defending him while pointing out that actors’ professional and personal lives should be set apart, and ‘cheating’ should not be a reason for the firing of actors.
Plus, some other fans are pointing out that even Lily Allen cheated on her first husband, Sam Cooper, with female escorts. So if fans want to cancel Harbour for cheating, then Allen should go first, in their opinion.

cheating is not something that should ever affect someone's career
Being a cheater in your personal life is irrelevant to your work unless your affair is causing trouble with work. This is how it should be for men and women. Also Lily Allen cheated on her previous husband and claimed she didn’t cheat because it was with women so it didn’t count
It sucks to be cheated on but I don’t think that’s a reasonable basis to fire someone. If you only wanted to see actors who didn’t cheat, it’d be a very small list
