Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have finished filming Practical Magic 2, and it seems that not every aspect of their on-screen relationship in the movie was fictional. In the years since filming Practical Magic, the duo have grown close “like sisters,” Kidman revealed in an exclusive interview with People.
It’s insane. I can tease her, and she teases me. We’re both living in London, very close to each other.
Practical Magic 2 is inspired by Alice Hoffman’s sequel novella, The Book of Magic, which was published in 2021. Most of the original cast is set to return in the sequel, alongside a few new and young emerging actors, like Joey King, Maisie Williams, and Xolo Maridueña.
Nicole Kidman Reveals Secrets About Her On-Set Chemistry With Co-star

A month after Practical Magic 2 wraps filming, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock still find it hard to stop fawning over their on-screen sibling relationship that mirrors much of their real-life chemistry. In the People interview, Kidman also disclosed how their first day back on set unfolded:
We’re both like, ‘What?’ But we were just right back into it. I adore her and she is so funny and so lovable. And we’re just having the best time together.
The two actresses have never reunited on-screen for a movie in the 27 years since Practical Magic, considering how Bullock and Kidman have always been two of the most sought-after leading actresses of their generation. The 1998 film saw both actresses in their emerging years, and as such, it remains a nostalgic reminder of how far they have both come in the industry ever since.
How Practical Magic 2 Ties to Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman’s 1998 Film

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman’s 1998 film explored the fantastically witchy lives of the Owens sisters, their two eccentric aunts, and a love story made for the ages. 27 years later, Sally and Gillian Owens will return to reprise their roles as the cursed sisters who are forever doomed to be tragically fated when it comes to matters of the heart.
In Practical Magic 2, the story leaves out Aidan Quinn, who played Bullock’s love interest in the first movie, and instead introduces Lee Pace in a new role.
The sequel will explore family ties and the highs and lows of love, much like the original movie. And although Quinn’s absence in the story reeks of cursed tragedy, the sequel has the potential to deliver a treasure trove of nostalgia just in time for this year’s Halloween.
Below is a list of all essential details about the duo’s upcoming film:
Practical Magic 2 will premiere theatrically on 18 September 2026.
