For Game of Thrones fans, Peter Claffey may not be a familiar name, at least not until the premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms next year. However, if you believe he looks familiar to you, he has actually done a couple of stage and screen works over the past few years.
Before venturing into the world of acting, he played rugby union professionally for several Irish clubs, such as Ballinasloe, Galwegians, and Terenure College. Now leading an HBO show in his first high-profile project, Claffey will be portraying Ser Duncan the Tall, a hedge knight nearly seven feet tall.
If you’re wondering where else you’ve seen him, here’s a list of Claffey’s past roles:
1. Peter Claffey Played A Psychopath Serial Killer In Harry Wild

Claffey appeared in the Harry Wild episode An Unhappy Happy is a Dangerous Thing as Billy Lund, a ruthless killer. This chapter was one of the darkest stories in the show, and Claffey demonstrated his potential as a villain actor.
The story opens with a loan shark named Ringo dying a ghastly death, with our lead investigators coming across Billy, who saw Harry as his equal, hence extending the puzzle game even longer, so he could indulge in his twisted fantasies.
2. Peter Claffey Had A Cameo In Vikings: Valhalla

With his towering height, it’s no surprise Claffey was cast in Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla. He had a cameo role as Dunstan in Season 3, appearing only in four episodes.
Fans can say this was a prelude to his future appearance in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Although he only had a brief part in the historical drama series, it’s a great title to add to his portfolio, given its high ratings.
3. Peter Claffey Portrayed Becka’s Love Interest In Bad Sisters

Claffey had interesting roles in Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters. He was first cast as Callum in the pilot season, appearing in the episode Explode a Man. In 2024, he was recast as Joe Walsh, the love interest of Eve Hewson’s Becka.
In the fourth episode of Season 2, it was revealed that Becka knew Joe got her pregnant, although she only told her sister about it. By episode 6, Joe learned the truth after Becka’s sister accidentally spilled the beans.
4. Peter Claffey Co-Starred With Cillian Murphy In Small Things Like These

The 29-year-old star played Barry in Small Things Like These, a historical drama film starring Cillian Murphy. Game of Thrones alum Michelle Fairley also appeared in a role here.
Despite his minor part, Claffey managed to land a project with an ensemble cast. The movie received universal acclaim for its outstanding acting performance and captivating story.
5. Peter Claffey Appeared As The Simple Giant Iggy In A Whistle In The Dark

After training to become an actor at the Bow Street Academy, Claffey debuted on stage in 2022’s A Whistle In The Dark as Iggy Carney. The play, created by dramatist Tom Murphy, was first launched in 1961 and has had several interpretations over the years.
Speaking with the Irish Independent, he recalled his first professional acting performance: “It is such an intense play and you could hear the audience gasp.” While this was something to celebrate, Claffey also reeled from the fact that he worked alongside theater veterans, such as actor Seán McGinley and director Jason Byrne.
