The long-awaited adaptation of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda is finally in motion, with principal photography beginning in Wellington, New Zealand. Leading the film as the titular character is 21-year-old Bo Bragason. The film also stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Dichen Lachman as Impa.
The upcoming fantasy adventure film based on one of the most beloved games by Nintendo will be directed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director, Wes Ball. He will also serve as the producer. Derek Connolly and T.S. Nowlin wrote the screenplay.
While we wait for more updates, let’s take a moment to get to know the young woman behind Princess Zelda.
1. Bo Bragason’s Early Life

Bo Bragason was born in Chichester, West Sussex. As per her biography, she spent a good chunk of her life living in Europe. She was in Luxembourg for seven years and in South West France for three.
Bragason attended the Knutsford Academy and was in Year 8 in 2016. She was a part of the Knutsford Little Theatre and the National Youth Theatre as well. Once a week, she would attend the David Johnson acting school in Manchester.
2. Where You May Know Bo Bragason From

You may just be hearing Bragason’s name everywhere, but she has been in plenty of projects so far, including BBC One’s Three Girls, which won the British Academy Television Craft Award for Best Director, Best Writer, and Best Editing in 2018.
She has also appeared in Moving On and Creeped Out, as well as Censor, The Radleys, Renegade Nell, The Jetty, and King & Conqueror. King & Conqueror premiered on August 24, 2025, on BBC One. It is a historical drama telling a fictionalized version of the events leading up to the Norman Conquest. Bragason plays the role of Queen Gunhild, based on the historical Edith of Wessex.
3. Bo Bragason Starred in Another Video Game Adaptation

The Legend of Zelda isn’t the first video game adaptation in her portfolio. In 2016, she had a small role in Takeshi Nozue’s animated film, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, based on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV.
She was the 3D scan model and mocap actor for young Lunfreya in the film. However, she didn’t voice the character. Young Lunafreya was actually voiced by Liliana Chomsky, while Game of Thrones‘ Lena Headey voiced the grown-up version of the character.
4. Bo Bragason Made Her Acting Debut as a Toddler

Three Girls may have been Bragason’s breakthrough role, but she took her first step into the film industry long before that. In 2007, when Bragason was just three years old, she played a minor role in the French-language film Hidden Love.
While it was a small role, it sure set the course of her career!
5. Bo Bragason’s Humble Social Media Presence

Bragason is on track to be the next big thing in Hollywood, and her lead role in The Legend of Zelda will make sure of it. As of now, though, the young actress lives a fairly normal life with a humble social media presence.
On Instagram, Bragason currently has a little over 27,000 followers with 65 posts uploaded on her page.
