13 Years Later, The MCU’s Best Hulk Scene Still Remains the Only Time Mark Ruffalo Was Pure Aura

By Brian Garcia 10/23/2025

We are moving into a new battle world in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And while it is filled with big names and a cast that is on par with the galaxy and even the multiverse, the Marvel army is dying to see Hulk reign in pure chaos. It was back in 2012 when we were first introduced to Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, and it has been 13 years of hope to get a solo Hulk movie.

Played by a pure-hearted man and distinguished actor, Ruffalo, the maniacal superhero is only seen as a braniac and not what the character is actually celebrated for. This brings us to one question: Will we see the actor from 13 Going on 30 hulking out in any future projects?

Fans Still Wish to See Mark Ruffalo Turn Into the Green Monster

The last time we saw Hulk in pure rage was back in 2018, in Avengers: Infinity War. Although for a brief period, he gave a tough fight to the interstellar villain Thanos. Since then, it’s either Bruce Banner or Smart Hulk taking over the screens.

A recent discussion on Reddit sparked a discussion with fans exchanging their thoughts and sharing their comments on Hulk, where one fan wrote,

It’s actually kinda insane to think about the fact that this moment was 13 years ago, he better have a Hulk out moment in Brand New Day or Doomsday.

Another comment seemed very thoughtful, as it explained how easily Bruce Banner would have tuned into the Hulk in Avengers: Endgame.

If he hadn’t been permahulked already in Endgame, then putting on the gauntlet with all the stones in place for sure would have Hulked him out. From the way Tony reacts when he puts on the glove, all that power hitting your body seems pretty overwhelming. Hulk would probably have come out immediately when Bruce felt that power surge.

However, the green berserker holds huge chances to make a return. Before the superhero fanatics are hit by Avengers: Doomsday, they will be having a blast in theaters watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Interestingly, the official cast of the aforementioned movie includes Mark Ruffalo. And while one might think he would play his current MCU character, reports suggest events that everyone has been eager for.

EXCLUSIVE!!!!

@UnBoxPHD on X.com managed to get some set photos that showed Ruffalo without any motion capture dots. This hints towards the Begin Again actor playing Bruce Banner. What intrigued many was a video that showed Bruce Banner being carried on a stretcher. These two events make us think that now that we have Banner’s human form, Smart Hulk might be out of the way.

Meanwhile, Ruffalo’s Banner in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, being on a stretcher, seems a little bit odd, as the character is never human when hurt. Not only that, but another set photo shows Ruffalo wearing a green raincoat and having blood on his face.

Now we leave it up to you to think: Does Bruce Banner actually stay sane when he is even slapped?

As of now, these are the actors who will be seen in the third Spider-Man outing in the MCU.

Our Thoughts on a Comic-Accurate Solo Hulk Movie

Now that we have got comic-accurate suits for almost every superhero, The Hulk needs a comic-accurate storyline. While many stories need to be explored, one that everyone wishes for is the World War Hulk storyline.

World War Hulk takes place after the Hulk returns from the planet Sakaar, which we already saw in the MCU film, Thor: Ragnarok. Why we think this would fit well in the MCU timeline is also because Skaar, the son of Hulk, is born on Sakaar.

The storyline of World War Hulk, per Marvel.com, is as follows.

Exiled by a group of Marvel “heroes” to the savage alien planet of Sakaar, the Hulk raged, bled, and conquered in the “Planet Hulk” epic, rising from slave to gladiator to king. Now the Hulk returns to Earth to wreak his terrible vengeance on Iron Man, Reed Richards, Dr. Strange, Black Bolt – and anyone else who gets in the way! The Hulk may just tear this stupid planet in half!

This would even mean we would get our very own Illuminati in the MCU’s Scared Timeline, now that the Hulk is back from Sakaar, being a Gladiator.

Let us know in the comments below if you think Ruffalo will turn into the green rage spreader.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
